Get To Know Joe A. Giamalva - Producer, Director, and Choreographer

JOE GIAMALVA brings a diversity of experience to his career as a producer, director, and choreographer. From a theatrical debut at age 4, he has moved with ease between stage musicals, television, movies, and nightclubs. As a performer, he has toured the world with such stars as Raquel Welch, Tony Martin and Cyd Charisse, Donnie and Marie Osmond, and Cher. On Broadway, he danced in "THE HAPPY TIME" with Robert Goulet, as well as toured the United States in over 25 hit musical productions. His movie credits include: "NEW YORK, NEW YORK" starring Liza Minelli, "SEXTETTE" starring Mae West (her final film), and "MR. SATURDAY NIGHT" starring Billy Crystal. For three and a half years he starred in 120 episodes of T.V.'s award winning "WELCOME TO POOH CORNER" and 12- episodes of "DUMBO'S CIRCUS" for THE DISNEY CHANNEL. Joe directed/choreographed the National stage tour of "THE BANANA'S IN PYJAMAS" and also "THE RICHARD SCARRY SHOW" for the Easter Egg Roll at THE WHITE HOUSE in Washington, D.C. (The Clinton Administration). As a show manager, Joe has worked on: ARTHUR, SPIDERMAN, LAMBCHOP/CHARLIE HORSE, and THOMAS THE TRAIN ENGINE at Magic Mountain theme park in Los Angeles, California.

Joe choreographed theatre productions of the musicals "MAN OF LA MANCHA", "CABARET", "BRIGADOON", and "ME AND MY GIRL". After choreographing the original Los Angeles Laker Girls, DISNEY and HANNA-BARBERA hired Joe for many of their projects. Robert Jani Productions selected Joe to direct their ice extravaganza for Nordstrom's called "CELEBRATION ON ICE" starring Kitty and Peter Carruthers. Following this, Joe choreographed Barbie for MATTEL TOYS and Ronald McDonald for McDONALD'S RESTAURANTS in several national commericials. Joe has also performed in commercials for McDONALD'S and LEGO TOYS. In episodic sitcoms, Joe has choreographed "DAY BY DAY"/Gary David Goldberg producer for Paramount Studios, "FAMILY MAN"/Millar Boyett producer for Lorimar, and "COACH"/Barry Kemp producer for Universal Studios. Joe also worked on the hit TV show "THE NANNY" starring Fran Drescher/Peter Marc Jacobson producer for Sony Studios. The Howard Hughes Corporation hired Joe to choreograph their annual awards video "COLLABORATION" which celebrates outstanding achievement within the corporation.

More of Joe's credits include productions of "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST", "SNOW WHITE", and "WILLIE WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY". Also, "PIRATES OF PENZANCE", H.M.S. PINAFORE", "THE MIKADO", "THE CHRISTMAS BOX", and "ZORRO", all National Touring Companies for Theatrical Arts International. At the Group Reperatory Theatre, Joe directed "TWO GRANDMA'S FROM BROOKLYN" starring Irene Chapman and Barbara Haberman and a one woman show for Patty Maloney called "I'M RIGHT TONIGHT" which was performed in Hollywood at the Cinegrill Hotel. Both shows received glowing reviews.

Joe continues to expand his career and industry involvement as a master teacher in tap, jazz, ballet, musical theatre, and adjudicator for major dance competitions, and producer of his own projects, once of which is Dr. Cleo, a mascot for Molina Medical Centers in Long Beach, California. Joe continues into the new millinneum with projects for The NFL, McGrath Racing Inc., "TIVO", and casting PBS costumed characters around the country for Jamey Cohan Productions in New York City, all through JAG CO. PRODUCTIONS . Joe has been the DIRECTOR for TREMAINE DANCE CONVENTIONS AND COMPETITIONS where he toured 25 major cities in the U.S.A.
